Sony has introduced Quick Spectral Super Resolution, a new AI upscaling system designed to run on the standard PS5. Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei are the first supported titles, giving the six year old console some of the reconstruction technology previously associated with PS5 Pro.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches worldwide today, October 2, on PS5, Xbox Series and PC. The first mainline entry in seven years significantly expands multiplayer with cross platform play, cooperative missions and the new Air Base social hub.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered arrived September 29 as a free upgrade for existing owners on supported platforms. It adds enhanced visuals, combat changes, a reworked skill system and cross platform mod support, while PC gets path tracing and Switch 2 receives a native version.
Steam reportedly generated an estimated US$1.7 billion in September, according to Alinea Analytics, making it the platform's biggest September on record. The firm estimates Steam could exceed US$20 billion in annual gross game revenue for the first time this year.
Battlefield 6 is preparing for Season 5 and the beginning of Year 2, with EA testing class changes, weapon balancing and vehicle adjustments. REDSEC is also getting reconnect support, tighter ranked matchmaking and faster armour application.

Apex Legends moved from Easy Anti Cheat to EA's own Javelin Anticheat on September 29. EA says bringing the technology in house gives its teams greater visibility into emerging cheating methods and more control over future detection systems.
Wisky notesSteelSeries finally has an answer to the premium mouse race, Sony is teaching an old PS5 new tricks and The Witcher 3 still refuses to retire. Meanwhile, Ace Combat is back after seven years, which seems like a perfectly reasonable excuse to ignore the rest of the weekend.
