A Free Pour: My November Retrospect
November is hay fever season, so in reasons to stay home news... I've been racing Hot Wheels with the kids, getting hooked on The Diplomat again, enjoying a glass of Aberlour 12 and figuring out where another LEGO set is going to live.
Hot Wheels Infinite Rush: I was fortunate enough to receive a copy to review, but I’ve had so much fun playing it with my two young boys that it has occupied most of my gaming time this month. If you want something easy to pick up and play without the concentration demanded by a sim racer, this might be worth a look. What I really wasn’t expecting was how often the game would send my boys digging through storage to find their real Hot Wheels cars.
The Diplomat: My wife and I already enjoyed this show, but somehow we completely missed a season. Discovering that when Season 4 appeared on Netflix was a very welcome surprise and suddenly gave us plenty to binge. The cast continues to be the biggest reason to watch. Keri Russell is excellent as always, and Rufus Sewell is just as good alongside her. If political drama, sharp dialogue and complicated characters are your thing, The Diplomat remains very easy for me to recommend.

Aberlour 12 Year Speyside Single Malt: At around $100 a bottle, I think this is one of the more refined whiskies you can find around this price point. I get vanilla, toffee and cinnamon on the nose, with lighter notes of pear, apple, orange and raisin underneath. It is smooth, medium bodied and finishes sweet without becoming heavy. I normally drink my whisky on the rocks, and the best compliment I can give Aberlour 12 is that it never seems to linger in the glass for very long.
LEGO Daft Punk Collaboration: The upcoming LEGO Ideas Daft Punk: Alive 2007 set immediately caught my attention. I already have Random Access Memories framed on vinyl on my wall, so there is probably a spot nearby waiting for this as well. The set recreates the duo’s iconic pyramid stage and includes Thomas Bangalter and Guy Manuel de Homem Christo minifigures with their metallic robot helmets. It is currently slated for 2027, fittingly marking 20 years since the Alive 2007 tour, with pricing and an exact release date still to come.
