    The First Pour: An Introduction

Wisky Notes is my personal corner of Boss Room, sharing thoughts on what I’m playing, watching, enjoying and whatever else is on my mind.

    NOW PLAYING

007 First Light: I’m about six hours in and thoroughly enjoying the story, although the gameplay can feel a little clunky at times, which occasionally pulls you out of the fantasy of actually playing James Bond. This is either the closest reimagining of the N64 GoldenEye you were hoping for, or a huge departure from it. There really is no middle ground.

    NOW WATCHING

The Gentlemen (Season 2): Guy Ritchie’s fingerprints are all over it. The story is developing nicely, the pacing feels measured without dragging, and the writing gives every scene enough weight to matter. It is sharp, stylish and easy to get drawn into, but definitely not something to half watch while doomscrolling. Miss one conversation and you will probably miss why the next one matters.

    DRINKING

Starward Solera: Finished in "Apera" barrels, which is the Australian term used for wines (and whisky) made in the traditional Spanish sherry style. The result is a lighter, sweeter finish that feels perfectly suited to the seasonal shift into Spring.

    ON THE RADAR

SteelSeries Sensei Pro: I have known about this one since last year. My concern was always the same: eight versions feels more like a shelf strategy than a player solution. The tech looks genuinely interesting, but I still think SteelSeries needed to make a clearer call and back it.
